CWE ID Description
CWE-416 The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.

Executive Summary

This is a use-after-free vulnerability in FedCM (Federated Credential Management) in Google Chrome versions prior to 154.0.8037.97. A use-after-free occurs when a program continues to use memory after it has been freed, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution. In this case, a remote attacker could exploit this by crafting a malicious HTML page to execute arbitrary code outside the browser's sandbox.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to run malicious code on your device through a specially crafted webpage. This could lead to unauthorized access to your data, installation of malware, or further compromise of your system. The sandbox escape means the attack could affect your entire system, not just the browser.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Google Chrome to version 154.0.8037.97 or later to address the use-after-free vulnerability in FedCM.
