Executive Summary

This is an HTTP Request/Response Smuggling vulnerability in Apache HTTP Server affecting versions 2.4.30 through 2.4.68. It occurs via mod_proxy_uwsgi when a crafted uwsgi response with Transfer-Encoding header is processed, leading to inconsistent interpretation of HTTP requests or responses.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to smuggle malicious requests or responses, bypass security controls, or manipulate how the server processes traffic. This may lead to unauthorized access, data leaks, or service disruption.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability involves HTTP request/response smuggling due to inconsistent interpretation of responses in Apache HTTP Server. It may lead to unauthorized data exposure or manipulation, potentially violating GDPR's data protection requirements or HIPAA's integrity and confidentiality rules if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Apache HTTP Server to a version outside the affected range (2.4.30 through 2.4.68). Disable mod_proxy_uwsgi if not required. Monitor network traffic for unusual HTTP request patterns.
